About Jackie

I am a resource special education teacher with 8 years of experience. I specialize in teaching struggling readers at all levels. I use a combination of programs that I have found to be the most effective at improving reading skills. Before the first session, we will meet or have a phone call to discuss your child's reading needs. This helps me to ensure that we are working toward specific areas of concern you may have and that I am a good fit for your child's needs. I prefer to hold at least the first few tutoring sessions in a public space to ensure mutual safety while we get to know one another. Parents are welcome to join or observe during any session. I use a phonics screener to determine the exact deficits in their reading skills. This helps avoid wasting time on previously learned skills and allows me to create instruction specific to your child. Please reach out with any questions or to set up an interview!
