About Kathleen

Teaching is my passion; compassion and encouragement are my gifts: fun and creativity are my methods. I love doing this job because my greatest thrill is seeing the light of learning in a child's eyes and in their smile. I see my job as a tutor is, to recognize a person's learning style then present the material in a way which compliments the students style AND to help the student learn how to interpret instructions into their own "learning language" for future assignments. I have tutored and/or home schooled all ages to 8th grade. I teach all ages "how" to take tests especially standardized tests and SAT. I may not have the specialized degrees but I do have a GIFT and love to use it. I have an exceptional reputation for my ability to help those with learning disabilities, developmental delays & autism. I taught an autistic child with minimal letter recognition to read at the highest 1st grade level in 4 months. I helped a child with dyslexia & hyperactivity to become an AP Honors student. I specialize in teaching reading & mathematics foundational skills in a way which makes the subsequent courses simple to understand. I have excellent references & will pass any & all background tests.
