About Mia

I first started tutoring when I was in high school. I did peer tutoring in math and found I enjoyed it. I continued in college when I was in my undergraduate degree working with middle school students through the AVID program. When I was a graduate student I continued to tutor, this time with both middle and high school students in a variety of subjects to include math, English, social studies, and science through a program at my university. I've completed an AAS, a BA, and an MSW. I believe that students succeed best through individualized learning. I have also found in my experience that basics are crucial to success in courses with higher complexity. If a student needs help with geometry but doesn't understand basic principles from algebra, I will go over those with them to ensure they understand the whole process to solve the problem on their own.
