About who needs care: My step dad has PSP progressive supranuclear palsy, he needs 24/7 supervision. He needs assistance with bathroom and transferring from motorized wheelchair to chair. And serving lunch, snack and dinner and 2 p.m. medications. And hanging out with him. He mostly reads and watches tv, but could be taken on walks in motorized wheelchair We have a live in caretaker and are looking for the right person to join to take over day times on the weekends. Possibly some occasional night time support. About the care needs: Kind and patient and also strong and clear. PSP is degenerative neuro motor disease, so there is a lot of reminding and remaining consistent with actions. He is a tall and strong person, so ideally need someone with height and strength for everyone to be safe. Also must like and not be allergic to dogs. Work with people with degenerative diseases and understanding impaired speech is a plus. We also lost my mom this week, so someone compassionate with grief process would be great as well. Services needed include: mobility assistance.
