Part Time
About who needs care: My father is a wonderful, funny, kind person. He was a community-oriented criminal defense lawyer in Oakland for 50 years. He's always had a very full social life. Parkinson's has made mobility and speech difficult for him. He needs time to find his words and he is mobile - he can walk on his own - but balance is very challenging and falls are a big fear. COVID has made his social world very small and mostly Zoom based. My mother is his only caretaker - bathing and feeding him, cooking, cleaning and doing everything - and she is exhausted. We need someone to help one or two days a week, either overnight so she can sleep in her own bed, or mornings, when he needs a lot of care getting up and dressed and fed and cleaned up. We are looking for someone who will also talk with him and ask him questions and give him some companionship.
About the care needs: We are looking for someone kind, someone strong enough to help my dad up if he were to fall, and someone who will talk with him. He's hard of hearing, so hopefully someone who can chat cheerfully and loudly in English.
Services needed include: companionship, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
