About who needs care: My husband has extensive cognitive damage and moderate physical disability from MS. He is highly educated and charming to be around, but gets confused trying to perform complicated tasks, like working with computers, which he loves. Also without someone to discourage him, will try tasks that are either dangerous for him (climbing ladders, etc) or that may lead to breakage or damage around the property. Needs unobtrusive supervision so that I can have some time away knowing he is safe. I have my own set of issues (bad back), so someone who could take over light housekeeping tasks while still being available to him would be the perfect person. Days and hours negotiable, but I need at least one full day and a second half or full day per week.
About the care needs: My husband would accept care more easily if he thought the person was there primarily to take care of the house. He does not need constant companionship. However, someone with computer skills who could help correct the problems he runs into would be ideal, and if this person didn't mind transporting him from time to time (grocery or drugstore, perhaps somewhere for lunch, etc.
Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, and companionship.
