I've had 4+ years caring for my own children and 2+ years paid caring for other children with cognitive and intellectual disabilities. I believe that children need room and space to be creative and thrive where they're at in addition to the love and support that comes from a caregiver. I strive to find that balance where the child can develop skills on their own through guidance as needed. Each child is different and deserves that individualized care. I like to structure days with children between a mix of indoor and outdoor activities and outings to libraries, hands on educational areas, and more. When home I encourage creativity through hands on crafts and imaginary play, indoors and outdoors; with a little of educational influence as applies. Willing to create lesson plans upon request. When out of the house I keep a very watchful eye on the children so that they're safe, but give them space to explore. I like to interact and play with the children as well. It's a balance.
