My skills include dementia care, activities of daily living and helping them to stay as active, physically and mentally as they can be. I have been a paid caregiver for 5 years. Prior to this I cared for my father in law in my home for 4 years. He had Alzheimer's disease. S I Am well versed in caring for someone with this diagnosis. Dementia care includes, keeping the home safe and allowing them as much independence as possible. It also means being flexible in how to achieve a safe and enjoyable environment in their home. Activities of daily living include, hygiene, personal care, bathing, meal preparation, to name a few. Taking walks, doing physical activities as tolerated will improve physical health. Playing games, doing crafts and other hobbies together are among a few things that will stimulate their mental health. I have completed many hours of online training in the senior caregiving field and dementia care. I have let my CPR training lapse but will renew this.
