When my grandmother was no longer able to drive, I would bring her to doctor appointments, food shopping, errands, etc. After they moved her to a home, I was trying to figure out how to become her PCA because I knew how unhappy she was there. Unfortunately after a fall there, she did not make it. I know some people don't have the time or resources and a home is the best they can do. I want their last memories in life to be enjoyable, happy and stress free. They should be able to live it up if possible. I am in the same situation with my aunt currently, she is 70 and has alzheimers. In my opinion, she does not need to go to a home, but rather someone to be with her. She lives with my mother and I know it takes a toll on her. I am trying to become her PCA before they move her somewhere.
