About Lonicia

I am a certified elementary school teacher; so I teach all subjects, but Math holds a special place in my heart. I was the kid in school who struggled with math, until my 7th-grade year when I was placed in an intermediate math class that gave me the opportunity to slow down and catch up on concepts missed throughout the previous years. Once I caught up, my mindset changed from "I'm horrible at math" to "I LOVE math!". I genuinely believe that my love for math is due to the fact that my 7th-grade math teacher loved math and it showed in the way she taught her students. My philosophy is that once students get past the "I'm horrible at math", and encounter a teacher who loves math and enjoys teaching math in a way that meets students' individual needs, their mindset will shift to, "I understand math... it isn't too bad". I would be honored to be that teacher for your student.
