My goal is to provide a positive and successful educational tutoring experience for K-5 students. I love teaching children and helping them to grow in knowledge and the ability to solve problems. My strengths are asking questions to facilitate learning or encouraging students to overcome a challenge. Children thrive on positive reinforcement--whether learning to read, spell or problem solve in math or science. My experience is diverse--learning/homework support for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th graders; taught preschool/early elementary art classes (at Creative Movement/precursor to Linx); and was an award winning art teacher for K-8th grade at a small private school. Taught Sunday School for many years. Parent of three children in their twenties. My son has a learning disability so I have a lot of patience and persistence. My personality is caring, calm, creative and inquisitive. Graduated from CMU w. honors in Design.

Kari was such a blessing to our family this past year! We hired her for our after-school caregiver for the 2020-2021 school year and kept her for additional support in June until camps started. She is loving, patient, creative and engaging. In addition to picking up the kids from school she also ensured they completed their homework and helped them with their reading and math skills. She even researched and found ways to engage them and accommodate their individual learning styles and interests. She often helped me with dinner meal prep as well. We all enjoyed having Kari as part of our extended family this past year!
