About Joey

I am from Los Angeles, and am currently an undergraduate student at Columbia University. I study visual art, economics, and business management. I have a younger sister (she is now entering as a freshman into Columbia as well!). Through her, I was able to learn patience, but also learn that I love watching her grow. In high school, I was president of the Education Foundation club, which fundraises the art, music, science, and other enrichment programs for all public schools in my school district. In college, I have had the incredible opportunity of teaching North Korean refugees at Ewha University English. I have always been passionate about helping students learn. I love teaching students creatively through design thinking processes, engaging in critical discussions, and being hands-on whenever possible. My sister chooses three words to describe my personality: calm, bubbly, passionate. In my spare time, I like to do photography, play flute, and stroll museums and galleries.
