I've watched younger children (1 1/2 up) in a limited capacity before, but would like to branch out into actual child care. I have adhd so I may need extra reminders or notes for certain things, but at the same time it's great for keeping children entertained and happy. I employ more of a gentle "parenting" technique, never scolding or yelling at a child. They're learning! It's best to be patient and calm and show them why the things they've done might be bad or dangerous through natural consequences and through talking it out with them. With that being said, if they were in a seriously dangerous situation, I wouldn't hesitate to jump and grab them or put my own body in the way to keep them safe. With the education system the way it is, teaching children to think for themselves and think outside the box or abstractly is very important to me. It's better to understand the whys and how's rather than just memorizing fact. Education and a fun environment are very important to me.
