About Erika

I have my bachelor's degree in Education and a Texas teaching certificate in all subjects grades 1st-8th. I've taught at the elementary level for 7 years and specialized in dyslexia intervention for the last 2 years. I am passionate about helping students learn how to read and write. It's a common misconception that learning to read is easy and 20% of people have dyslexia. It's okay and common to struggle with reading. I take a patient, empathetic, diagnostic, and personalized approach to reading instruction. I use verified tools to pinpoint what areas of reading need to be targeted and then take a systematic approach using structured literacy and the science of reading.
