I'm a career nanny and nature exploration teacher. I look forward to reading stories with your children, engaging in dramatic play, and wandering in the woods! My curious nature leads children to explore the world and try new things. My goal is to foster children's social and emotional development. This includes creating a stimulating environment; learning how to choose foods that will nourish the body; and reinforcing positive behavioral choices. My qualifications include: Fluent in Spanish (Majored in Spanish & History and studied in Spain). Masters degree in Environmental Education. Teach nature exploration classes. Undergraduate & graduate level child development classes. Child/Adult CPR & First Aid Certified. Classes in Infant Massage. Over 20 years of experience as a nanny, babysitter, after-school teacher and educator.
Debbie cared for our daughter from 4 months to about 14 months old during our family's temporary relocation to Cambridge, and we simply cannot say enough wonderful things about her. Our daughter absolutely adores Debbie. She lights up the moment Debbie walks into a room. Debbie was with us for so many of our daughter's first-year milestones, and we're so grateful she was there for them. From the start, Debbie made it her mission to show our daughter the best of the city. Since we had just moved to the area and had no idea what was available for young children, Debbie (who is a lifelong local) became our guide. She took our daughter on walks, visits to museums and libraries, and sought out cultural activities that were both age-appropriate and enriching. On days when the weather kept them inside, she always had creative, engaging activities ready to go. We never had to wonder if our daughter was stimulated enough. She was also proactive about safety and anticipating new childproofing needs as our daughter grew and consistently followed our household routines and care instructions. Beyond that, Debbie became a partner to me in my early days of motherhood. There was so much I was figuring out in real time, and she was always there to help — whether that meant offering guidance on things like baby-led weaning or jumping in on more practical matters like helping set up baby gear. Her experience and calm reassurance made a real difference during what can be an overwhelming season of life. Lastly, I appreciated Debbie's overall flexibility with our family. Our schedules were very unpredictable, and Debbie navigated that with grace and open communication — adjusting on short notice and never making us feel like it was an inconvenience. That flexibility was an enormous weight off our shoulders. More than anything, Debbie became a true member of our family. We would have continued working with her without hesitation if we weren't returning home. Any family would be incredibly lucky to have her!
