I reached out for a phone interview to learn more about her experience and childcare background, which I believe is a normal and important part of choosing someone to care for your child. When I asked about her background, her response was, “Did you not read my background?” I found this dismissive and unprofessional. While profiles on Care.com provide information, anyone can write anything online, and I think it’s completely reasonable for a parent to want to hear directly from a caregiver about their experience in their own words. Communication and professionalism matter, especially when trust and childcare are involved, and unfortunately this interaction left a negative impression.
