About Amelia

Our family is devastated that Amelia is moving away and we will miss her terribly. If you are lucky enough to have the opportunity to hire her, I urge you to do so immediately! For the past four years, Amelia has been a primary caregiver for my children, who are now two and four. She began working with us when my son was an infant, and stayed with us through the birth of my second child up until the present. I have always felt incredibly safe and relaxed when my children are in her care--and I know they are happy and having fun. Whether she’s driving my kids to school, staying overnight with them while I travel, or taking them swimming, I never worry about their safety or wellbeing. She also keeps the house tidy, serves my kids nutritious meals, and keeps our household running smoothly while I’m at work. In addition to providing childcare, Amelia has also served as a household manager, performing a wide range of administrative and executive assistant tasks at our house–from opening the mail and helping me deal with bills, to building IKEA furniture to to researching swim lessons for the kids to fighting with customer service on my behalf. She’s detail oriented, efficient and an excellent problem solver. One of her great strengths is anticipating problems before they happen. Often, when I ask her to do something, she has already thought of it. She’s always on top of everything we need in the house, from new diapers to new shoes for the kids to more milk. As a caregiver, Amelia is fun, creative, and compassionate– but she’s also incredibly consistent, sets clear boundaries and my children behave better in her company than with anyone else. She’s always coming up with new activities, whether it’s taking them on a picnic, going for a walk around our neighborhood, doing stencils or having a dance party. She never falls back on screens to keep them entertained. When they were babies, she was communicative about feeding schedules and helped develop and enforce routines. As they have gotten older, she navigated the challenges of sibling rivalry and toddler tantrums with incredible patience and calm. She’s also helped my older son deal with the emotional ups and downs of some medical challenges. Amelia is beloved by all the people in our lives, When friends visit they always say “She’s amazing, don’t let her go anywhere!” I wish it were up to me! I’m excited for Amelia’s new adventure in Portland, but deeply sad to lose her as our friend and caregiver.
