About Amara

I am a mother of two boys, ages 11 and 12. My paid work experience includes a position in Elementary Education, as an In-Class Support Specialist for the Special Education Program. As a Teacher Assistant and as a parent, I realize the need many working parents have for care outside of school hours. Afterschool pick-up schedules, extracurricular sports and other activities, homework, tutoring, and getting dinner started are often a point of strain for parents with jobs outside the home. Now that my boys are approaching middle school and gaining greater independence, I would like to bring my experience as a parent and educational assistant to help families with young children fill the gaps in those crucial afterschool hours. I have a clean driving record, many years' experience with teaching and tutoring, and even more years as a family meal planner, shopper, and cook. I hope to be able to pair my skills with the needs of local families, allowing parents to meet demands of work and home.
