We were blessed enough to have Alyssa work for us for two summers (one before she went away to college and the first summer after college) taking care of our kids. To this day, my kids still ask about her and will occasionally ask to send her an email or a picture--which she responds to. As a beautifully talented college graduate, I think the fact that she still finds time to communicate with a 6 and 9 year old speaks volumes about her character. Alyssa was unlike any sitter we ever had--she would bring books and movies from her home to share with my kids. As her mother was an educator, she had amazingly appropriate material that she would bring over to share with my kids. My son was learning to read at the time and she would bring over her mother's BOB books for him to read. He was so excited to have books at his level that he could (sort of) read. So rather than spending his summer not working on his skills, this young lady actually encouraged him and got him excited about his ability to read. And she did that on her own. We never asked her to do much more than watch them in the pool and make sure they drank and ate enough! We are eternally grateful for our time with her. My kids have so many wonderful memories of baking and swimming, watching movies and going for pizza with Miss Alyssa.......what I remember most was how lucky we were to have such an intelligent and loving young woman watching our children while we were way at work. Alyssa is conscientious and smart, kind and of the highest moral fiber. Any family would be truly blessed to have her work with them.
