About who needs care: My mom is currently under home hospice with Stage 4 stomach cancer. She is able to get up and walk around, but needs assistance with her colostomy bag (bowels) if needed. First thing in the morning, she takes her medication and eats an egg with toast and coffee. She can take herself to use the restroom (number 1). She likes to watch her favorite shows and just walks around the house doing little upkeep. She'll request what she wants to eat for lunch, then after lunch is usually when the hospice workers will come. She has a CNA that goes every Mon, Wed, Fri to give her a shower. Then a RN will go about twice a week to check her vitals.
About the care needs: My mom is very much of an introvert, but through this whole process, she's actually opened up more to people. Someone that can listen and just hear my mom talk about her kids/grandkids, and just overall friendly. The cleaning of the colostomy bag can be difficult because of the smell, but I have masks, room deodorizer and different techniques that I can share to help.
Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
