About who needs care: Howard is my stepfather. He is 86 and was in a significant automobile accident in August 2021. Following 100 days rehabilitation, he was released to independent living. He should be in assisted living but can not afford it long-term. I live out of state. His son lives in state but is not helpful. Howard receives medication oversight bi-weekly by a visiting nurse, and has in-home follow up once per month. He just needs someone to clean the studio apartment, do his laundry, maybe pick up a few items from the store, spend time with him, and just assist with little tasks that he can't seem to do for himself. He is somewhat charming, but also extremely dramatic and needy. He insists he can't use the iPhone so I bought him a Jitterbug (which he had before the accident). Now he can't use that. This position requires a bit of patience.
About the care needs: Patience, patience, patience
If you are into baseball, old movies, and general Baltimore history you will be fine
He's not a great listener, but he really is just lonely
Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
