About who needs care: I'm actually in my 20s but that was not an option to choose from. I have a few chronic illnesses, and have a physical disability resulting from an autoimmune disease. I rely on a wheelchair for my mobility, and a power wheelchair around the house. My manual wheelchair can easily fit in all vehicles and is lighter and less bulky than a standard wheelchair. I am actually mostly independent, but I am currently unable to drive, and need frequent help with rides to medical appointments. Occasionally, I am on my own for a couple of days to a week at a time, and need help with these tasks during the day: showering (getting in and out and need help with washing hair + bathing), slight assistance with transfers to and from my wheelchair, and occasional help gathering items that I need from around the house.
My hobbies and interests include: going to coffee shops, reading my Bible and daily devotions, attending small group virtually with friends or having them over, game nights with friends or family, watching sitcoms, feel good shows or suspenseful shows/movies on Netflix, comedy (I enjoy dry bar comedy), reading, art or creative projects, writing, makeup/fashion/beauty, music, going to restaurants or bars when they have live music, and traveling when I can. Even just a short outing is fun for me, but I love planning my next out of town adventure or vacation!
My ideal day is chill, relaxing. Ideally a slow morning, and taking a trip to a local coffee shop around 10 or 11 am. Playing cards or reading there, then coming home for a nap. When I wake up, do something creative or watch Netflix for a while. Spend some time outside on the deck or take a walk (or roll - I use a wheelchair). Shower, then do my makeup, put on a cute outfit. Rest a little more, then head out to do something fun (like enjoying live music, trivia or karaoke night at a local bar). Then, come home and wind down for the night. That is actually a lot more than I can currently do in one day, but one fun outing and some fun at home (like baking cookies + watching Netflix) is possible and something that I do!
I prefer a caregiver who is kind and empathetic, has a positive attitude, a good sense of humor, and is reliable. I hope to become friends with whoever I choose, and have a more casual dynamic surrounding the care tasks that I need help with. I want us both to have a pleasant experience. I am a joyful person who is kind, considerate, genuine, and easy to get along with. If this sounds like the right job for you, let me know! I would love to connect with you soon.
About the care needs: I prefer a caregiver who is kind and empathetic, has a positive attitude, a good sense of humor, and is reliable. I want someone who is able to stay calm in an emergency. I need someone who treats the people that they care for with respect and dignity. That is so important to me because I will occasionally need help with tasks like bathing and dressing. I hope to find a caregiver who enjoys talking + listening, and is also comfortable with times that are quiet. I want us both to have a pleasant experience.
