FAQs for finding homeschool teachers near you
What is a homeschool teacher?
A homeschool teacher is a teacher that comes to your home and teaches your children there instead of in a larger classroom environment. Some parents want to homeschool their kids, but either work full-time or don’t feel equipped to instruct them. They may feel that hiring private teachers for homeschooling is a better fit for their family. You may want to hire just one teacher to provide all day instruction or multiple private homeschool teachers who specialize in different subjects such as math, reading, or a foreign language.
How much do homeschool teachers charge?
How much private homeschool teachers charge can depend on so many different factors. How old your children are, the subjects they’re learning, how experienced the homeschool teacher is, and where you live can all impact homeschool teacher rates. Keeping that context in mind, the average hourly pay rate on Care.com for homeschool teachers is $23.18.
Do homeschool teachers come to your house?
Yes, you can hire homeschool teachers that come to your house. You may also be able to find a homeschooling teacher who teaches a small group of students out of their home.
How can I find a homeschool teacher near me?
Not sure how to find homeschool teachers? This is where Care.com can help. You can review the profiles of potential homeschool teachers near you and can learn more about their experience, the subjects and grade levels they teach, and how much they charge. That way, you can find the perfect fit for your family.
How can I safely hire a homeschool teacher?
All homeschool teachers on Care.com are asked to complete a CareCheck, which is a background check, and those that complete it will have a badge on their profile that shows the date it was run. When hiring a homeschool teacher for your children, we strongly recommend you take steps to ensure safety such as interviewing multiple candidates, asking for references, and running your own background check. Looking for a CareCheck badge on a homeschool teacher’s profile is a great place to start this search, but is by no means exhaustive enough to ensure safety.
