About who needs care: Mom is going to be 99 in April. She recently suffered a fall on 12/25 and has been in rehab since 12/28. We want her out of that place as she has developed a bedsore on her tailbone and the care and attention has been extremely concerning. It's time she came back to her own home and was being provided decent meals (i.e., late breakfast/lunch and dinner, as cooking has become difficult for her). She is small-framed at about 100 lbs. We want her to regain as much mobility and strength as possible after having fractured her pelvis. Her daily routine may include an occasional visit to her doctor, shopping, playing card games, hair appointments, light housekeeping (helping with laundry), monitoring her in the shower for her safety, and general companionship. She has 3 daughters who visit often and are there to manage her financial responsibilities/mail every Friday. We may need to adjust the schedule as changes to her needs become more evident upon her return home. Being a modest little lady, we would only like to consider a female as her caregiving companion. She has long term insurance we are hoping to make some use of after 20 years of paying premiums, and have a claim that has been authorized, however, one of the requirements we've been informed of is that our caregiver must hold a current California Home Healthcare License, and I'm hoping all this may be exactly what you could offer. Thank you.
About the care needs: Mom is still trying to remain as independent as possible, but we realize, at her age and propensity for falls, we need help on a regular basis for her. She is becoming forgetful with short-term memory, and her hearing is getting extremely poor even though she does wear hearing aids. One will need to remain patient because of these difficulties (repetition and a louder voice). She is also NOT technically inclined, avoiding her oven (digital) and expressing constant frustration using her cell phone (something we have tried to help her understand on multiple occasions). She has no clue about things like the computer, email, game apps, etc. She also tends to watch too much news on T.V. not being adept at using the remote. This can be very limiting and depressing, so even just sitting with her to watch a decent movie or game show together might expand her horizons. She plays a lot of (too much) word search games, but, again, that is very isolating. A card game or Yahtzee.. or something else...would be interaction we feel would be very beneficial and enjoyable for her.
Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
