Full Time
About who needs care: She has had frequent spinal injuries so she can not lift, bend, or twist. She also has some memory and motivational difficulty. The most frequent help needed would be assistance with grocery shopping, laundry, meal prep. She would also need help getting motivated to eat meals, do hobbies, etc. Checking to make sure she takes her medicines (which would be pre-packed) would be important. Taking her to some medical appointments (approximately once/month) would also be necessary. Her interests and hobbies include painting, poetry, philosophy, crossword puzzles, calling friends, and spending time or reminiscing about her children and grandchildren. An ideal day for my mom would be to come have coffee and a warm breakfast at her dinning room table at about 10:30-11am, to plan out her day by jotting down ideas, calling some old friends, taking her medicines. She then likes to watch the news for awhile and organize photographs or read. She would normally have lunch at about 3 p.m. After lunch she would benefit from some art of some sort. She then has dinner close to 7 p.m. and tends to watch some TV afterwards. She tends to go to bed early around 8-9 p.m. with a book and also calls her children nightly from bed. She would sometimes like to go to the grocery store and/or pharmacy with her caregiver. She would not be able to carry grocery bags though due to her spinal fracture. She is also not able to drive due to her memory issues.
About the care needs: My mom would do well with someone who is very caring and empathetic. A person who is highly educated or significantly enjoys learning would be a great asset because my mom has always been very dedicated to learning and to education as well. It would be over the moon fabulous to find someone who is
an artist or who simply loves to create art! My mom has plenty of art supplies and they could even paint together.
