About who needs care: Looking for daily help assisting, exercising and being a companion for my 65-year-old dad who suffered from a stroke. He is mobile, exercises daily and has multiple types of therapies throughout the week. He needs someone who can be a good companion and drive him/accompany him while exercising, going on outings and keeping busy. He suffers from anxiety and depression but no behavioral or physical issues (not aggressive or violent whatsoever). He likes basketball, walking, going to the gym, and trying to do new things like museums etc. Additional help may include helping his wife (my mom) with household chores, some cooking and errands such as food shopping etc.
About the care needs: An ideal caregiver for my dad would be a kind, patient, positive and energetic middle aged man or woman who understands the neurological limitations of a stroke survivor. These limitations include inability to make decisions, issues planning and follow-through, etc. We are looking for someone who can fit in with the family cohesively and who can also give my mom a break. We have a very close knit and loving family who spend a lot of time together but all have personal responsibilities as young adults.
Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, and companionship.
