I have been a Special Education Assistant for three years. I work one-on-one with students to help keep them on track with their learning path. My degree in elementary education and early childhood allow me to help kids ages 4-6 prepare for kindergarten. For kindergarten readiness, I will help your child learn to write their name, identify letters and numbers, shapes and colors, and skills such as cutting on lines and coloring within an area. If you have other things you want your child to work on, we can discuss on an as-needed basis. Tutoring can be one 2-hour session or multiple 1 to 2-hour sessions. I am an Educational Assistant Consultant. I am a graduate of Carroll University's Educational Studies/Early Childhood program. I am the oldest of six children, so I am very comfortable being around many children at once. I often work in the church nursery. I am comfortable with children of all ages. I will be glad to do more than just watch the children; I enjoy housework and cooking. I enjoy children that are active and being a part of the things that they enjoy doing. I've babysat since I was 13 years old. I started babysitting twin girls immediately after they were born. I was a mother's helper, for almost a year and I started nannying for them in the summer while the girls were a year old. I now babysit for 2 other families both with three kids and all of the kids were under the age of 6. I love kids, and always have. My love of animals started on the first day I was brought home from the hospital and my first two dogs used to take turns staying by my side. To me, our pets are family. This passion for animals started with my grandfather who passed it on to my mother who then passed this love on to me. I cannot think of a house without having a dog, a cat or any other kind of pet in it. My experience is in taking care of dogs, cats, guinea pigs and fish. My name is Jennifer, a 20-year-old newlywed living in Waukesha. I recently attended Carroll University in Waukesha, studying music education and math education. I have previous child care experience through baby-sitting. I have baby-sat for multiple families, and my most common opportunity was with a family of four children all under the age of six. I also have volunteered in numerous children's programs through my church. I taught vacation bible school for preschoolers and middle schoolers, and was a teacher's aide for an Awana Cubbies group for children ages 3 to 4 years. I am certified in adult, child, and infant CPR. During my time at Carroll University I also took a class focusing on children with special needs including Autism Spectrum Disorder. I know basic ASL, and believe in teaching children sign language when they are young and so open to learning new things. I feel that a healthy diet, including many vegetables, is very important. As for discipline, I believe in telling children why they are being punished and following through with an age-appropriate time-out. I also believe in bestowing values, respect, and manners at a young age. I would love to plan activities for the children to entertain and educate them throughout the day. Some ideas include the following: art, play time, story time, music, educational time, outdoor activities, working on language skills, games, and puzzles.
