FAQs for finding a college nanny near you
What is a college nanny?
A college nanny is a normal nanny that also happens to be a college student. Many families like to hire college nannies because they are young, fun, and full of energy, which kids typically enjoy. A college nanny can also be more affordable to hire than a nanny with many years of work experience.
How much does college nannies and sitters cost near me?
The average hourly rate for college nannies and sitters on Care.com is $20.09 as of October, 2026, but the actual rate college sitters and nannies charge can vary due to factors like where you live, how many children you have, the responsibilities you want them to take on, and how much experience they have.
Is it safe to hire a college nanny near me?
All college nannies on Care.com are asked to complete an annual background check called a CareCheck and any college nannies who complete a CareCheck have a badge on their profile that displays the date it was run. While a CareCheck is a solid place to start, we do strongly recommend you do your own research when hiring a college nanny by running a private background check, interviewing multiple candidates, and speaking with professional references.
What responsibilities do college nannies take on?
College nannies can take on all the same services older nannies do such as driving the kids to and from school, cooking for them, and cleaning up after them. An added bonus of hiring a college nanny is that they’re really helpful when it comes to homework time.
How can I find a college nanny near me?
You can use Care.com to find a college nanny near you. You can search through different profiles to learn more about what responsibilities each available college nanny in your area is willing to take on, how much experience they have, and what they charge. Some profiles even include reviews from families the nanny has worked with in the past.
