About who needs care: My father is Stage 4 liver/colorectal cancer. He has been in hospice care since November 2021 and has taken a serious decline and the hospice nurse and social worker have recommended daily care from the time he wakes until bedtime so maybe an 8-hour day since he sleeps most of the time. He has loss his appetite and does not wake for medication. He is still trying to get to the bathroom on his own as my mother is unable to assist. Right now, he does not want to use the bedside toilet but the nurse has said he is not cleaning himself well and this will cause tissue damage. His wishes are to remain home. He is not a complainer and we have to really observe him to see what is going on. Hope this provides some clarity as to need. Thank you. About the care needs: Both my parents are hearing impaired. My mother more severely than my dad so things will have to be repeated. My mother is a great talker and will appreciate the assistance. My father is quiet and will try to do things on his own but he is now very weak.
