About Wendy

27 years experience working with children. Five years with 1 and 2-year-olds, 22 as a director in an after school program with kindergarteners through 5th graders. A part of my job was providing healthy snacks and encouraging children to try new foods. I organized art activities, cooking and outdoor games, always taking into account what the children are interested in. I come from a large family so I'm comfortable taking care of different ages. My family and I have had many pets through the years and am very comfortable with animals. I have received an award for working with children with special needs. I have worked with kids with difficult tempers and children with high to low functioning autism. I have gone to work shops for child care so I am familiar with different types of children's needs and behaviors. Leaving my current job is the hardest thing I've ever done. The children and families I worked with were like extended family. I've learned a lot about children and supporting families and my community. I've raised an 18-year-old boy and have helped family with raising kids so I am capable of taking care of infants and toddlers.
