About Wendy

I love helping students of any age learn to read or improve their basic skills, particularly if they are struggling or have fallen behind in their studies. I became a tutor through homeschooling my own children, and then assisting Pre-K and elementary students at Kumon Learning Center in reading and math. I was also trained in Charlotte as an Augustine Literacy tutor, and am a certified tutor trainer with Preliteracy. In my position with Literacy Volunteers I helped adult students raise their basic reading and math levels through remedial tutoring techniques, including both a phonics and whole language approach. I have also helped students with their writing skills and enjoy seeing them regain a sense of confidence as they improve their literacy skills and begin experiencing success in school and life in general. My desire is to help students of all ages and backgrounds gain the skills they need so that they can achieve their long-term educational and career goals.
