I've worked with many caregivers over the years and none holds a candle to Wendy. Her ability to provide loving, patient and thorough care under often difficult circumstances sets her apart from the rest. She is diligent, trustworthy and a calming, clear-eyed, well-trained presence at a time when you need those things most of all. When I first met Wendy and her colleague Martha, we were interviewing caregivers to provide 24x7 hospice care for my brother Andy at his home. My brother was atrocious that day, screaming and swearing at everyone and being his worst self. When they saw Andy needed a hand, Wendy and Martha literally rolled up their sleeves and went to work without being asked. They settled Andy down, cleaned him up, and had him laughing before it was over. They did this all in their nice job interview outfits. The hospice agency nurse on duty pulled me aside and said, "You need to hire these women. Believe me, you could look for the rest of your life and never find anyone even half as good as they are." That nurse was right. Over 23 long months, Wendy and Martha led a team of caregivers who gave my brother exceptional care--and even ended up caring for his much older (and cognitively impaired) wife in the bargain. Andy was a large guy who was bedbound, and yet in that time he never grew a pressure wound of any kind--a fact that astounded the staff at a skilled nursing facility we ended up moving Andy to for insurance purposes. Wendy not only provided care herself but also trained the entire staff on how to properly care for Andy and his complicated condition. Wendy arranged for all my brother’s needs, made meals, cleaned the house, washed laundry, solved problems with his oxygen equipment, called the hospice agency when it was necessary, and reported to nurses the medical details of his condition with the accuracy and competence of a trained RN. I confidently and enthusiastically recommend her for virtually any caregiving scenario. So let me repeat what that hospice nurse said so long ago: You could interview caregivers for the rest of your life and never find anyone who is even half as good as Wendy. Call her today and hire her before someone else does. Then, once you do, sit back and relax. Because believe me, Wendy's got this.
