I have worked for 10 plus years with seniors. I have always had a special place in my heart for them. I am kind, caring, compassionate and patient. I am also honest, trustworthy, reliable and capable. I have worked in facilities and in home. I prefer in home for the one on one. I have been trained in medication administration, first aid, CPR and basic nursing aide. Though, experience and the people I have cared for have been my greatest teachers.

Our family was fortunate enough to have had Wendy care for our mom for six years. When Wendy started to care for our mom she was in the earlier stages of dementia. Wendy was committed to our family and cared for our mom until she passed away. Wendy’s care for the physical needs of our mom was exceptional. As the dementia progressed and those needs became greater, Wendy adapted quickly and easily. Wendy communicated with us when she had concerns, she knew all of our mom’s doctors, took her to medical and other appointments and played a critical role in managing our moms’s household and her health. We live close by and visited regularly. It was such a comfort to come in and find Wendy and our mom playing the piano, listening to music, watching a Bears game in matching jerseys or just quietly watching a show. More important than her exceptional physical care, however, Wendy has a kind, positive, calm and reassuring demeanor and was adept at engaging our mom and bringing out the beautiful but rare glimpses of her personality and spirit before her diagnosis. Wendy never treated our mom like a baby. She talked to her like we would talk to her. She studied dementia so that she could be better equipped to engage her. Wendy took her for drives to see Christmas lights and walks to get fresh air and look at flowers and trees, even when it became a lot of work for her. Wendy was the biggest blessing to our family. She quietly handled all of the hard things, thereby giving us the gift of being able to truly enjoy her company in her final years.
