I love exploring other cultures and viewpoints which I why I enjoy traveling, meeting new people and tutoring. I taught ESL & bilingual students for 20 years; today, I work as a refugee counselor. I'm skilled in Social-Emotional Learning, Differentiated Instruction and the 9 Types of Intelligence in order to work well with disabled learners as well as youth on-the-spectrum. Also, I'm trained in Motivational Interviewing so that I can better assist those with test-taking fears, PTSD and issues with impulse control. I believe that everyone is capable of learning, changing and transforming their lives. Everyday, I feel blessed to be a teacher, a foster mom, a counselor and a writer! On a personal note, I can't resist European chocolate, African coffee, old dogs, kittens and "Dad Jokes."
