About Virginia

I became involved in caregiving as a hospice volunteer in Sandpoint, Idaho and have since spent the past 10 years working full time supporting independent clients with dementia, cancer, and Parkinson's Disease. I have lived in Bellingham for two years. I particularly enjoy working with older folks for their amazing stories and the experience of empowering people wherever they are in the life journey. My hobbies include: photography, Buddhism, reading, and hiking. I am dependable, compassionate, creative, and honest and have a sense of humor. My professional background before transitioning to caregiving included working at Health and Welfare, serving as a psychosocial rehabilitation worker, and working as a Peace Corps volunteer in West Africa. I hold a Masters in Public Health and a BA in Social Work. I am currently working with a woman with Alzheimer's disease and a man with Parkinson's disease and am looking for an additional 10 hours of work a week.
