About Violet

I am a science enthusiast and an aspiring teacher! I am striving to make STEM more accessible and fun! I earned a BS in Chemistry from UNC Chapel Hill and now I am a graduate student at Duke University (but always and forever go heels!). I have years of experience helping students excel! I taught undergraduate courses at UNC Chapel Hill in Biology. I assisted in peer mentoring and peer tutoring for courses in math, chemistry, and biochemistry. I have been private tutoring across all subjects from physics to english for students of all ages for over three years. I enjoy tutoring because I think learning to love learning is the most important skill I can help a student develop. My goal is to not only help the student understand the content, but to empower each student to engage with learning on their own terms and using their own specific strengths. I strive to be a patient and persistent tutor, and I bring a positive and encouraging attitude to each of my sessions.
