Babysitting has offered me the opportunity of having over eight years of work experience, sometimes taking place on the other side of the world. Whether I was volunteering at an after school program in the villas (slums) of Buenos Aires, or caring for infants at an Israeli nursery outside of Haifa, babysitting has deepened my intercultural competency and independence. Working in entirely new cultural, lingual, and geographic areas has shown me the importance of being adaptable and confident. Caring for babies and children allows for an unique opportunity to influence the lives of impressionable minds. It is because of the multiple ways babysitters can stimulate children intellectually, emotionally, and health wise that I find this work so engaging and fun!
