Hello! Thank you for visiting my profile. My name is Vernae and I am a social worker with a degree from Howard University and certified postpartum doula, as well as a babysitter. I have been providing childcare services to my community for 7 years and doula services for the past 2 years. I am passionate about serving children and families and look forward to talking with you!

Vernae served as our postpartum doula for the first 4 weeks of my son’s life. She was flexible and we worked out a great schedule 10pm-6am where she cared for our newborn while me and my husband rested. She took exceptional care of our son and cleaned/sanitized bottles, folded laundry, and kept track of feedings and voids through the night. I slept well knowing that my son was taken care of. 

Vernae restored our faith in doulas. We had a very complicated post-partum experience and our hired doula was not tracking or responding well to mama’s needs and worsening signs of infection. Vernae was covering for her one day and it was clear that she was the support we needed. So we asked that she stay on as my wife’s doula.  She was incredibly supportive, thoughtful, proactive and kind. Because we had to spend a lot of unexpected time in the hospital for mom’s post partum care she jumped in to support our baby’s needs as mama’s condition worsened and viewed her role in a holistic way considering the circumstances and the changing needs. I know her commitment to learning and growing as a doula plus bringing excellent care to families will be a gift to mamas out there seeking sensitive care and advocacy. 

Vernae was a lifesaver! Baby #2 came home from the hospital with a number of complications we hadn’t anticipated. Vernae quietly and quickly got to work, making my care and recovery a priority, taking on household tasks from dishes, laundry, pet care, lunch and snacks and detailed cleaning and sterilization of pump parts. She was great company and so empathetic with our older daughter. Highly recommend her care!

Vernae did an excellent job taking care of my two elementary aged girls. We were in an unconventional housing situation and it didn't phase her at all, thank goodness. I appreciated her flexibility when my ride was late. My kids thought she was the coolest person on earth and are still asking for her to come back.

Vernae looked after our boys (1.5 and 3.5) while my wife and I had a night out with friends visiting from out of town. This was our first night time childcare and care.com experience so we were nervous but Vernae put our concerns to rest as she did an amazing job! 

Vernae came a few days earlier for the boys to get to know her before the actual night out and both boys took to her immediately without hesitation. We reviewed the bedroom camera footage after our night out and saw that the boys had a tough time going to sleep as this was the first night time routine without mom and dad but we could see how patient Vernae was with the boys the entire time.  She calmly took care of them despite both boys having their own moments and she never reacted or seemed overwhelmed with the situation. 

We were able to fully enjoy our night out and come home to boys fast asleep. Our oldest even told us the next morning that she did a good job! Definitely recommend and would hire again. Thanks Vernae!

She is amazing! I was so nervous to a hire a babysitter for the first time with my first child. From the first interview she made me feel super comfortable. My baby boy is always sound asleep when my husband and I come back home from date night.

Vernae is a delightful and very responsible young woman who did an excellent job caring for my 9 year old and 5 year old for two weeks.  She was punctual, was very thorough in giving reports on the boys' activities and always followed up in emails per our request.  We would hire her again in an instant. 

Vernae is very reliable and punctual. She took my daughter out for walks and to my apartment complex park. She reads books and play with my daughter. She's flexible and patient. Vernae sends me pictures and messages. She is respectful when asking if she can give my daughter medicine for her teething. She has made everything feel at ease. I will definitely use her again. 

Vernae has been babysitting my children for years. She is one of the only people I feel comfortable watching all three of my children. She is great with babies, toddlers, and young children. She has a calm demeanor and needs little instruction. She is reliable, communicative, and punctual. Vernae can show up in the middle of a chaotic scene and just take charge. She has a big heart. I happily give a strong endorsement for Vernae.
