About Valerie

I am currently looking for some part-time babysitting employment while back in college. As a full-time student, I am mostly looking to help out with either date-nights or those times when you just need a reliable helper or sitter for the day. I have about 6 years of volunteer experience and 2 years of paid experience caring for children between the ages of 7 months to 12 years old. I was a caregiver and tutor all throughout high school, and I am continuing my role as a caregiver in college as a volunteer assistant at an after-school program. I have the most experience working with children ages 4-10 and with children with special needs (ages 6-12). I was a Jumpstart Corps Member during my freshman year of college. It really taught me how to interact with and facilitate intellectual development in kids ages 2-5. I also have a brother who was diagnosed with severe autism (4 years my junior). I would take care of him when my mother was at work. I would feed, bathe, and sometimes tuck him into bed at night. He was a runner and a screamer, so I have experience working in some tough situations. I am also open to cooking and some light cleaning, if need be. I love music, drawing, and will promote a safe and creative environment for your children. Overall, I am open-minded, receptive to learning, dedicated and happy to help.
