I have over 12 years of experience as a caregiver. My father had a massive stroke which paralyzed his body causing him to be fed through a feeding tube and could no longer walk. he lived for another 13 years. I got to witness how disabling and inspiring his life would be. My mother fought a hard battle with breast cancer which eventually took her life, I was her main caregiver and worked well with her Hospice team. I know how difficult it is to be involved in these illnesses but also how rewarding! I was able to give my parents the gift of being together, in their home until the end. I have been fortunate to work with clients with Dementia, COPD, spinal cord injuries, Paraplegic, Spine surgeries, wound care and tube feedings. I can truly say that I have been able to create the best relationships with those you had given up hope. We made the best of everyday! They blessed me with many stories, jokes and memories

Theresa's greatest gift is the smile on my husband's face when Theresa greets him in the morning. She is attentive to his personal hygiene, helping him dress and giving him a small breakfast. She sees what needs to be done for his safety and the cleanliness of our home. When Theresa is with us, I can leave the house without worry. She is honest, dependable, and responsible, but most of all, Theresa has common sense. She engages my husband in conversation and shows interest in what he shares. In a very short time, she has mastered changing his urostomy every other day. She wanted to learn how to do this. After seventeen years, and hundreds of caregivers, we are experts in realizing quality. Theresa is wonderful with our Golden Retriever, who waits for her at the door every morning. Did I mention that she makes a fabulous banana bread and killer oatmeal cookies? She is really a caretaker. She CARES for my husband, and TAKES away my stress. We are very lucky to have her in our home.
