There are caregivers, and then there are people who become family. Thelma was the second kind. My mom had dementia, and anyone who’s walked that road knows how rare it is for someone with dementia to feel truly safe and at ease. My mom did, completely, around her. She had a way of connecting that can’t be taught: patience, kindness, laughter, and genuine love, every single day. She didn’t just handle the daily care. She gave my mom dignity, joy, comfort, and companionship during one of the most vulnerable seasons of her life. And she gave our family something we can never repay: peace of mind. We didn’t just know Mom was cared for. We knew she was loved all the way to the end. If you’re searching for someone to care for a parent or loved one with dementia, stop looking. THELMA is a gift!
