My grandmother raised me, and through her I became familiar with certain behaviors and quirks that come from dementia- a disease that, unfortunately, is much more than just memory loss. Between her and our family friend that passed away, I have a very deep and personal connection that drives my desire to provide warmth and understanding in caregiving. I've worked in an assisted living facility that gave hospice care for a year and an activity center for people with dementia for four years.
