My experience with children started with babysitting. I then started to work in an after-school program with children in grades K-2. At this after-school program I made lesson plans, supervised recess, helped with homework, calmed down upset children, interacted with parents and many other things. After this I got a job working at an agency as a direct support specialist for a 14-year-old boy with high spectrum autism. I would spend a few hours a couple days a week with him. During this time, we would work on his social skills, self-sufficiency, cleaning up after himself, and homework or anything else he needed. This was by far one of the best experiences I've had.
