About Tara

I am a 49-year-old retired teacher and parent of two adult children ages 19 and 21. I have been taking care of children since the age of 10. Throughout high school and college I worked as a lifeguard, a swim instructor, and a nanny until I graduated from college and started teaching. After five years of teaching, I was a stay-at-home parent until my children were in high school. I then revived my career as a substitute teacher for children ages K-12, and moved on to be a classroom teacher for grades 5, 7, 8, 10, 11, and 12. The most rewarding aspect of teaching for me was the relationship I had with my students. I have a calm and kind demeanor that kids quickly trust and appreciate. I attribute my success with children to my work in striving to truly understand who they are, their likes and dislikes, and what motivates them to be their best selves. My students understand me to be authentic and respectful, more of a learning partner than a boss; a valuable advocate they can count on.
