About Tammy

As the middle child and oldest daughter of five, I picked up cooking, cleaning, and caring for others early on. I dreamed of being a Trauma Nurse or Teacher and was accepted into Nursing School, but I chose to open a Licensed Home Daycare instead, fulfilling my teaching aspirations. I spent 20 years as a cafeteria manager with BCPS OFNS. During this time, my mother battled ovarian cancer, which led me to prioritize her care over advancement opportunities. Using FMLA, I became her main caregiver at the Cancer Treatment Center in Philly, learning to manage her medications and nutrition through her ports. I'm grateful for the chance to care for her in her final days, combining my dreams of teaching and nursing for the ones I loved most. Now, at 62, I realize I still have so much care, compassion, and love to share with others!
