We hired Sydney to help care for our 6 month old. My wife had explained prior that in addition to childcare, we would ask her to help with light housework; specifically cleaning, cooking, laundry. My wife reiterated this again today at the start of her first shift. She voiced no opposition. We had put our daughter down for a nap just prior to her arrival, so my wife asked her to cook some eggs while she was showering. I was in the basement doing laundry, and the baby monitor was upstairs with Sydney. After cooking, she left our home without notice, leaving our daughter unattended and our front door open and unlocked. My wife reached out to her immediately after and she cited the extra housework as the reason she left. We would've had no problem if she let us know we were a poor fit. Her leaving and abandoning our daughter may be the most unprofessional thing I have ever experienced. Her lack of courtesy and poor judgement is very concerning for someone who cares for children.
