About Susanna

I am excited about teaching and discovering learning together with students. I have taught and/ or tutored for about 25 years. 10 of these years as a certified elementary school teacher. Most years as a kindergarten then fifth grade teacher. I have taught or substituted with children of all ages, from infants to seniors in high school. I have had the privilege of working with Special Education Students at schools and in their home. I worked my way through school as a nanny /tutor. My specialty is finding ways a specific student connects with the work. I never seem to run out of ways to demonstrate how to solve problems, whether in math, reading, or any other subject. Once I understand the way a student connects with the work, fewer examples are needed because we have a basis to start from. In my opinion, mistakes are the key to knowledge and teaching a child to explain their thinking helps students understand where they went wrong so they can try again.
