Hi families! I'm an Appalachian State graduate with a Bachelors in Child Development and Minor in Psychology. I have a passion for children and families and developmentally appropriate practices! I began working with children in middle childhood. My passion for supporting young children and their families grew throughout high school and college. I've grown to become an advocate for families and children in need in our community. My most recent childcare position lasted for almost 3 years and provided developmentally appropriate care and engagement to a child beginning at 5 months until about 3 years. I'm in the Hickory area and am willing to travel up to 25 minutes away. I am currently in graduate school at Lenoir-Rhyne for Occupational Therapy and have a set course schedule from M-TH. Folks, I am going to cry while I write this review. Susan has been caregiver for two toddlers in our two-family pod since August 2020. There have been a number of sitters in our toddler's lifetime, but we had no idea that someone as amazing as Susan could exist. She has been the toddlers' best friend and teacher. My 2 year old asks "please" with voice and sign language, can count and recognize letters. She has also helped him learn to observe all the little details in life. I am literally in awe as I watch Susan every day troubleshoot behaviors that come with this age. She always knows how to handle every situation. I have learned so much about how to better parent from watching and listening to her. My little one trusts and adores Susan through and through. Almost every day, at some point he randomly tells me with great sincerity, "I love Susan." We all love Susan. We will miss her so much!
