I have taught reading and math for students between the ages of 4-10. Students have received one-on-one or small group instruction from me to meet their math or literacy needs. Instruction is data driven based on assessments I implement or based on my observations of what students need to work on. I use the data to enable me to provide the best lessons, activities, and instruction for students. To improve reading skills, I have my own library of leveled books for students to read and I also have access to printable leveled books. Students also read sight words, do phonics activities to help them sound out and decode letters/words, and write daily to practice spelling words and using correct sentence structure. This increases reading fluency and accuracy. I also ask challenging questions to increase comprehension. In Math, I have students practice skills like addition/subtraction flashcards, ordering numbers, counting, number recognition, multiplication/division, making patterns, sorting, adding tens/ones, etc. to improve fluency, accuracy, and comprehension. Students are taught at their level so they experience success and are always encouraged to do their best.
