Stefania worked as our family’s nanny from March of 2022 through May of 2024. If you are considering hiring Stefania for a nanny or child care position, in all seriousness, I would end your search now and do everything you can to hire her immediately. She is one of the biggest blessings our family has experienced, and I know you’ll feel the same if you work with her. I recommend her employment without reservation and in the strongest terms possible. When our family first began to work with Stefania, she took care of our 4-month-old daughter. Stefania was incredibly caring, thoughtful, careful, and loving to our baby girl. She taught her how to drink from a bottle, quickly mastered the routines we created for nap time, and constantly held, played with, and engaged her, when most people (even parents!) would become bored and distracted by a smart phone. (Stefania never looks at her phone when she is caring for a child.) As our daughter grew, Stefania was perfectly attuned to each change and milestone, recognizing when to start solid foods, when to help our daughter drop and lengthen naps, when to help our daughter learn to walk. She is quite familiar with every developmental level, and during the few times all of us (my wife, myself, Stefania) were stumped by some new developmental stage my daughter was experiencing, Stefania always looked things up, learned something, shared it with us, and helped us try out new approaches. As our daughter moved from infancy to toddlerhood, Stefania’s nannying got even better, if that were even possible. She taught our daughter her numbers, the alphabet song (and a hundred other songs), and she even taught our daughter some Portuguese, which was pretty cool. Stefania also took our daughter to the park every day, took her to gymnastic classes, took her to the library and bookstore, took her shopping for small things – all in all, exposed her to the world around her, and most importantly, to other people. Before she ever did anything outside our house, though, Stefania would always consult with us and made sure we were comfortable with the plan. When we weren’t super comfortable with something (which was rare), Stefania never pushed back and was always accommodating. And she never laughed at us when we inevitably grew in our comfort and asked her to do what she had suggested weeks earlier. Our daughter became so close with Stefania. Our daughter calls her by a Brazilian term Baba, hugs and kisses her hello and goodbye, and always lights up with a smile when Stefania came to our house each day. After her mom, dad, and sister, Stefania is the next person our daughter calls for when she’s hurt or scared, lonely or bored. She loves Stefania. Additionally, Stefania is a model nanny. She showed up to work on time every single day. The only times she missed work were for vacation time that we offered her, and during the two instances when she contracted COVID. Otherwise, she came to work no matter what - when life was tough for her, when she had a cold, when our daughter was sick, when our house was smelly and messy (basically every day), she was always there for us. We are so grateful that for over two years, our daughter was safe, loved, very happy, stimulated, and developing so quickly through Stefania’s care. We would have loved for Stefania to continue working with us, and we are going to miss her terribly. She has become a cherished part of our family. We understand why she needs to move on, though, and we wish her the very best in her pursuit of future work.
